The new Cedar Hill Middle School will not be ready in time for the first few days of classes this year, according to the Greater Victoria School District (SD61).
The new approximately $54 million school was supposed to open on Sept. 2, but has been delayed by at least two days, “so classes won’t start until Thursday at the earliest,” said the school district in a statement Friday.
The school district said families were notified of the delay last week.
“I thank staff and families for their patience and flexibility during the transitionary period,” said SD61 Supt. Deb Whitten in a statement Friday.
“We are very much looking forward to when it comes time for students to enter and explore the new building and ultimately have a safer, accessible, and more modern space to learn.” she said.
