ROCK HILL, S.C. — A K-9 was stabbed while apprehending a suspect in an attempted stabbing case in Rock Hill, South Carolina on Thursday, Aug. 28, according to Rock Hill Police.
Rock Hill Police responded to a call from a woman reporting someone she knew chased her through her home trying to stab her, threatening to kill her Thursday evening.
Rock Hill police officers released K-9 Apollo to chase the suspect, 35-year-old Travonte Tate, after he ran.
When Apollo attacked and took down Tate, Tate allegedly stabbed the K-9 several times before police officers disarmed him and took him into custody.
Tate was arrested for attempted murder of the woman and unlawful injury to a police dog.
Apollo is scheduled for surgery and expected to recover.
