A Columbia 16-year-old charged with murder will be transferred to an adult jail after Boone County Judge Joshua Devine granted a motion at a Friday hearing, according to online court records.

Kavon Williams, charged with second-degree murder and first-degree robbery, has been in a juvenile detention center awaiting trial. He was arrested in September 2024. Williams was 15 at the time.

Williams will be tried as an adult in the murder case, which stems from the death investigation of a Macon man who went missing in January 2024.

Malik Jones was reported missing on Jan. 30, 2024, and family members said they found his body along Creasy Springs Road in Boone County just over a week later, according to past KOMU 8 reporting .
