SUMTER, S.C. — A major revitalization project is underway in Sumter, with the North Main Corridor Improvement Project moving into its second phase.
The $1.3 million infrastructure investment, approved by the city council, aims to transform the area near Morris College into a safer, more inviting space for students, residents, and visitors.
The project, which has been funded through state grants and developed in partnership with Morris College, will bring new sidewalks, curbs, and driveway entrances. The upgrades will also include decorative lighting, upgraded signage, and landscaping with trees and irrigation, according to city officials.
“We want to make sure for students that are walking down the street that they are safe, the kids are safe, and people walk pets also,” said Sumter Cit
