PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Nearly five years after the City of Portland and TriMet ended their partnership, TriMet is once again adding PPB officers to the transit police division, city officials announced Friday.
Five officers with the Portland Police Bureau and one sergeant will now be part of the division, bringing the total staff numbers to 31. At its height, the division had 65 law enforcement staff.
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office will remain the law enforcement lead for the division.
Portland mayor Keith Wilson says the partnership is an important step toward reinvesting in the city’s public spaces.
