DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — The City of Durham is unveiling new plans that could potentially get rid of the Durham Freeway altogether.

The road serves tens of thousands of drivers each day. But its development took a significant toll on communities around it, displacing some of the people living there.

Where the Durham Freeway stands today, areas like the Hayti community used to be lined with thriving businesses and homes. Hayti Reborn co-founder Henry McKoy is focused on bringing that back.
