LOWER MERION — The game wasn’t exactly hanging in the balance as Kevin Farley diagnosed the play late in the second quarter Friday afternoon.
But what transpired on either side of the hit delivered by the Ridley linebacker greatly changed the complexion of the Green Raiders’ visit to Lower Merion.
Ridley led by 9 points late in a relative struggle of a first half. A bobbled kickoff and a penalty backed the Aces up to their 5-yard line with 3:10 left to half.
One first down would let the Aces run out the clock, get into the locker room at Arnold Field within striking distance and prep to receive the second-half kickoff.
Instead, Farley blew up a play a yard short of the sticks, the kind of solid defensive play that all game allowed room for Ridley’s explosive offensive to go off.
