The Detroit Lions have added an edge rusher — to the practice squad.

The team announced on Thursday that they’ve signed former Army standout Andre Carter II to fill out the final practice-squad slot.

Carter, 25, played three games for the Las Vegas Raiders last season and made 12 appearances in his 2023 rookie campaign with the Minnesota Vikings after going undrafted out of West Point.

Carter (6-foot-6, 256 pounds) became a national sensation during his final year with Army. He amassed 15 1/2 sacks during the 2022 season and finished second to only Alabama’s Will Anderson Jr., who was drafted third overall by the Houston Texans the following spring.

The majority of Carter’s experience has come on special teams, but he did play 68 defensive snaps for the Vikings during his rookie season
