The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is advising people to be aware of a round of scam calls making their way around the area.
The caller identified himself as Sgt. John Matthews of the Mason County Sheriff’s Department saying there was a warrant for their arrest (those answering the phone) and had them stay on the line with him. The caller advised the warrant was issued because they failed to appear for a federal grand jury. The number they provided also may be answered as Mason County Sheriff’s Department.
MCSO reminds people they will not call to ask for financial information or to make financial agreements for payments.
