MAKANDA — Once an overlooked space tucked away down Giant City Road, Touch of Nature has celebrated several major investments aiming to reignite public interest in the outdoors.

Ground was broken Friday afternoon on a Wildlife Habitat Education Center, scheduled for completion in 2026, at the entrance to Touch of Nature. It will serve as a welcome center and environmental education space.
