Organizations in the Greater Toronto Area are coming together to get food, blankets and hygiene kits to families in Pakistan after major floods have displaced hundreds of thousands of people in the country.
The organizations include the Islamic Society of Ajax and the Pakistan Students' Federation at the University of Toronto. Organizations such as the Canadian Red Cross, GlobalMedic and Shelterbox Canada are providing emergency disaster relief to the country.
Asif Shafique, a member of the Masjid Quba in Ajax, Ont., said the situation is critical in Pakistan. At the mosque in Ajax, community members are holding meetings to discuss how they can support victims of the flooding in Pakistan.
