PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Police are still looking for a shooting suspect after surrounding a north Phoenix home for hours on Friday.

It happened near 31st Avenue on Aster Drive , which is north of Cactus Road. Police said they found a man shot inside the house and he was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but should survive.

Officers said they surrounded the house and thought they were negotiating with the shooter.

However, after the “standoff” lasted for hours, SWAT teams cleared the home around 7:45 p.m. and didn’t find anybody.

While the suspect is still on the loose, police said the suspect is “not believed to be a danger to the neighborhood.”

It’s unclear what led up to the shooting. An investigation is underway.
