CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A person is in the hospital after a shooting unfolded in northwest Charlotte late Friday night.

WCNC Charlotte was alerted to the scene around 9 p.m., located along Esther Lane off Freedom Drive. A photographer confirmed Charlotte Mecklenburg Police officers were present at the time in front of several houses. However, initial details weren't available at first.

Medic confirmed later in the evening that one victim had been wounded. That person was taken to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

CMPD has not shared further information as of publication.
