A beloved comic book and pop culture shop in the heart of Medway has re-opened following a suspected arson attack. Police have now confirmed a man has been charged after Get Ready Comics in Rochester was damaged by a fire on Tuesday morning (August 26).

The incident happened between the hours of 5am and 5.25am, according to police, when it is reported the distinctive floral display at the entrance of the shop was set alight. The fire spread to the door frame and shop sign.

Thankfully, responders from Kent Fire and Rescue Service were quick on the scene and extinguished the blaze before it could spread further to the homes above the shop. Three fire engines were dispatched, with crews using hose reel jets to bring the flames under control, and there were no injuries reported.
