HMRC could be about to launch a tax raid on families with properties over a certain value.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves is reportedly considering a new tax on the sale of houses worth more than £500,000 as part of a shake-up of stamp duty.

The tax would be paid by owners when they sell their properties, under the proposed system.
