CLEVELAND, Ohio – It was nearly 18 months ago that Wayne Dawson discovered he had jaw cancer.

The good news for the Fox 8 morning anchor is that his most recent scan showed he’s cancer-free.

This came after Dawson was first diagnosed with cancer of the jaw in March of 2024. He had major surgery to deal with the tumor. In the process, many of his teeth were removed. He also had surgery on his jaw.

At a six-month check, doctors discovered the cancer was back. It was a major problem, leading to 12 hours of surgery on Nov. 20, 2024. That was his second jaw surgery, and it was more severe than the first. Part of his tibia from his leg has been transplanted into his jaw, along with skin grafts.
