Auburn University’s homecoming weekend will have some Hollywood sparkle this year, as a bona fide movie star returns to her alma mater.

Octavia Spencer is set to appear as the grand marshal at Auburn’s homecoming parade on Friday, Sept. 12, the university announced this week. Spencer, an Oscar-winning actress , is a 1994 Auburn graduate with strong ties to the school.

“We are excited to welcome Octavia Spencer home as this year’s Homecoming Parade Grand Marshal,” the university said on Wednesday via Instagram and Facebook . “See you soon, Octavia! #WarEagle”

Aubie, the beloved Auburn mascot, appears in videos accompanying the announcement, opening an oversized letter that says, “Dear Aubie: See you soon! xoxo Octavia.”
