Maricopa police responded to reports of an armed robbery in the city’s Alterra neighborhood last night, prompting a large law enforcement presence in the area.

According to police, officers were dispatched around 9 p.m. after a victim reported being robbed at gunpoint while attempting to sell clothing through Facebook Marketplace. The victim said they met with an unknown person in the neighborhood, who threatened them with a firearm, stole the items and fled.

“This happened directly in front of our house,” said Brandy Marko on Cypress Lane, where a harrowing murder-suicide happened earlier this summer. “Cops came to by house to tell me somebody got robbed at gunpoint directly in front of my home.”
