SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Georgia's dove hunting season is set to begin Sept. 6, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources' Wildlife Resources Division (WRD).
The state's annual dove season will run through Oct. 12, offering hunters the chance to pursue the migratory birds during multiple segments, with shooting hours from one-half hour before sunrise until sunset. The daily bag limit for doves is set at 15 birds per hunter.
The season will also include a second period from November 22 to 30 and a third from December 19 to January 31.
Kara Nitschke, a wildlife biologist with the Georgia WRD, encourages hunters to take advantage of the opportunity to introduce new participants to the sport. “Dove hunting is a great way to introduce kids to hunting because it’s a low-pressure,
