A 16-year-old boy was arrested outside Stamford Bridge stadium in London after police suspected he was carrying a firearm following a Premier League match. The incident occurred on Saturday, 30 August, as Chelsea faced Fulham.

Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers received reports of a boy displaying a weapon and walking towards a crowded area. In response, police swiftly intervened at Fulham Broadway, where they restrained the teenager and conducted a search.

A spokesperson for the Met Police stated, "Officers received information about a boy displaying a weapon and walking towards a crowded area." The teenager was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm and remains in custody.

Authorities later clarified that the boy was believed to be heading to a comic convention in London. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, and it was confirmed that the weapon was not real. However, police noted that carrying an imitation firearm is an offence.

The imitation firearm, which appeared realistic, was on display and caused alarm among bystanders as football fans exited the stadium. Dramatic footage captured the moment police tackled the boy to the ground, with several officers restraining him while others searched his belongings.

A police spokesperson reiterated, "A 16-year-old boy remains in police custody after he was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm. The arrest occurred in Fulham Broadway at 14:41hrs on Saturday, 30 August after officers received information about a boy displaying a weapon and walking towards a crowded area. No one was injured in the incident."
