The Met Office has issued a new weather warning for Monday, predicting heavy rain across parts of the UK. The yellow weather warning is effective from 3am until 10am, specifically targeting regions in southwest Scotland. Areas affected include Dumfries and Galloway, the Scottish Borders, East Ayrshire, and South Lanarkshire.
According to the Met Office, "heavy showers" are expected to become "frequent across the area overnight and into Monday morning." Rainfall could reach up to 3cm in most areas, with some locations potentially experiencing as much as 5cm where heavy showers persist.
Experts have cautioned that this amount of rain could lead to surface water flooding in certain areas during the morning rush hour. The warning indicates that "flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible," and there may be disruptions to bus and train services. Additionally, road spray could contribute to longer journey times for commuters.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to prepare for challenging conditions as the rain approaches.
