DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — The Durham Fire Department announced Friday that after rescuing a dog from a burning house earlier this week, they will foster her until she gets a permanent home.

Fire officials said their units were called to a structure fire on Monday around 11:30 a.m. near the corner of Hugo Street and Cascadilla streets.

Photos from the officials showed flames and heavy smoke shooting through the roof of the house, where firefighters surrounded the structure with ladders and hoses.
