CLINTON, Tenn. (WVLT) - Anderson County is hoping to keep people from returning to jail by giving them a job, a paycheck and a push in the right direction.

Allen Lowe works eight hours a day, five days a week at a warehouse in Anderson County. What many don’t realize is that Lowe is an inmate at Anderson County Detention Center.

Through the county’s new work release program, Lowe is able to serve his time and work a nine to five.

“This whole program is awesome man; it just gives people opportunity to do something with themselves instead of just sitting around doing nothing. It actually gives you a little purpose,” Lowe said.
