It’s finally official. Gunner Stockton is Georgia football ’s starting quarterback.
Stockton was announced as the starter ahead of the season opener against Marshall on Saturday, Aug. 30, in Sanford Stadium.
Everything this offseason indicated that Stockton was the Bulldogs ' QB1.
Stockton stepped in for an injured Carson Beck in the second half as the Bulldogs rallied to win the SEC championship over Texas. He then started in the Sugar Bowl College Football Playoff quarterfinal loss to Notre Dame.
The Bulldogs’ 23-10 loss couldn’t be pinned on Stockton, who had poor pass protection in a game he was 20 of 32 for 234 yards and a touchdown.
