A chance trip down a remote stretch of road to pick up a trailer led to the discovery of missing German backpacker Carolina Wilga.
Tania French, the long-time Wheatbelt resident who found Ms Wilga after 12 days stranded in the bush, said the 26-year-old was “one amazing lady”.
Ms French was heading back to her homestead near Paynes Find on Friday afternoon after a trip to Beacon, 313km northeast of Perth.
“I had gone into Beacon to pick up my trailer, of all things. And I was really unsettled because no one had found her,” she said.
One of few residents in the remote area, Ms French said she’d originally planned not to stray too far from the area until Ms Wilga had been found.
