PEKIN ( 25News Now ) - Despite several illnesses and being left on the side of the street, a sweet dog is ready for some love.

However, the Tazewell Animal Protective Society (TAPS) needs help covering her medical bills.

Johanna is a 9-year-old pit bull-mix. She was found on the streets almost two weeks ago by the Peoria County Animal Protection Services. At that time, she weighed just 28 pounds, and her back and pelvic bones, rib cage, and shoulder blades stuck out significantly.

TAPS took Johanna in not long after, where she’s getting plenty of love and food. Now, the pit-mix weighs 33 pounds, but Executive Director Tori Menke said she’s also blind, diabetic, and battling pneumonia.
