SAN FRANCISCO -- Orioles catcher Samuel Basallo is hitting milestones at the speed of light.

Seventeen days after he celebrated his 21st birthday, 11 days after his Major League debut and eight days after he signed a stunning eight-year, $67 million extension , Basallo hit his first big league homer Saturday against the Giants at Oracle Park .

The Orioles' top prospect , according to MLB Pipeline, hit the first pitch of the fourth inning, off Giants reliever Tristan Beck, into the left-center-field seats, his first in the bigs after he hit 73 in the Minors, including 23 at Triple-A Norfolk this season.
