The Red Sox have agreed to a contract extension with closer Aroldis Chapman , a source told MLB.com. The deal, which covers 2026 with a vesting/mutual option for 2027, has not been confirmed by the club.
At 37, Chapman is having one of his strongest seasons with 26 saves and 74 strikeouts in 52 innings over 57 games. The left-handed fireballer earned his eighth All-Star nod.
A veteran of 16 seasons with 361 career saves -- good for 13th on the all-time list -- Chapman signed a one-year deal with the Red Sox last December.
