GAYLORD ― Welcome back, football fans.

The high school football season is back across the state and in Otsego County as all three Gaylord-area teams hosted home games on Thursday, Aug. 28. Gaylord started the Matt Silsbury era against North Branch, St. Mary hosted an Upper Peninsula power in Rudyard, and Johannesburg-Lewiston battled with Flint-area Burton Bendle.

Only a few yards and a double overtime game separated us from a 3-0 start for the three area teams. Catch up with the highlights from each game.

Last season, it took nearly five weeks for Gaylord to find the end zone and six full weeks to find its way into the win column. They weren't waiting around to start 2025.
