GREEN BAY — All things considered, Matt LaFleur would have rather been in Los Angeles that weekend in February, 2022.

Instead, he was in an unseasonably chilly Las Vegas, coaching the NFC squad in the NFL’s annual meaningless all-star game, the Pro Bowl.

Now, let’s be honest here. No NFL coaching staff worth its salt ever truly wanted to coach in the Pro Bowl. Sure, they’d say it was an honor to do so, and they’d take their families to Honolulu or Orlando or Vegas and enjoy a working vacation.

But the truth is that it was a downer, not a distinction.

Certainly it was to LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers’ coaching staff following the 2021 season.
