Rob Edwards says he sees no reason why Hayden Hackney won’t still be a Middlesbrough player by Monday evening, as he revealed his pride in the star for his handling of such speculation.
Hackney once again showed his quality in Boro ’s 1-0 victory over Sheffield United, with an elegant footballing display coupled with a desire and fight to help Boro maintain their perfect start to the new Championship season.
It comes in a summer that the proud Teessider has continued to be linked with a move away from Boro. As Wolves are the latest side to show interest, Edwards said when asked if Hackney would still be a Boro player the next time they take to the field at Preston North End in a fortnight: “I certainly hope so. I don’t see any reason why not.”
Earlier in the summer, Boro accepted
