Council bosses have explained why a well-known sports pitch in Nuneaton could be fenced off. CoventryLive was contacted by a local about the future use of the Gala Fields off Avenue Road.

They said the fields, which have been used by the community for years including the carnival. But the resident said that the field has been now been given to the Griff Football club for 25 years.

"The rumour is that there is going to be a fence or barrier all around the circumference of the field," the local said.

"This means that no recreational activity will be allowed on this field. The only annoying thing is nobody knows about this. I only found out by accident."

"The council have kept this very quiet ,no consultation with the community," the resident concluded.
