COLD SPRING- The Cold Spring Village Board has placed the New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation agency along with the Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail Commission on notice that it will be unsafe for pedestrians to walk between the Cold Spring Metro-North Railroad station and Little Stony Point and the Washburn Trail parking lot.

Mayor Kathleen Foley drafted a letter noting that Hudson Highlands was marketing the trail as ‘walkable’ from the village during the closure of the Breakneck Tunnel for construction of the Fjord Trail’s initial phase.

In her correspondence, Foley said while the trails were physically close to the village, “they are not safely ‘walkable’ due to culvert and sidewalk construction on Fair Street and because of the lack of sidewalks and deteriorating
