NEW YORK- Drivers hitting the road this Labor Day weekend will see the lowest gas prices in five years, according to the White House and Triple-A.

According to the Automobile Association of America, the average price for a gallon of gasoline in New York is $3.15, down 36 cents per gallon from last year’s price of $3.51.

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright pointed to President Trump’s energy policy as the reason for the decline in price.

“President Trump campaigned on lowering costs and this Labor Day Weekend, the American people will see the results firsthand at the gas pump — with the lowest gas prices in years. His approach is simple and commonsense: more American energy means lower costs, more jobs, and more prosperity,” Wright said.
