NORMAN — Brent Venables didn’t have any trauma induced flashbacks when Oklahoma’s offense started slow against Illinois State on Saturday night.

“Did you?”, the Sooners’ head coach jokingly asked the press corps post game.

Venables waited for an answer, but nobody would bite. He finally responded to his own inquiry.

“I’ve seen too many really good things,” Venables said. “I thought they were right on schedule. It’s not going to be perfect. There’s no expectation that it’s going to be. … I’m sure we’ll look back at the tape and say, ‘Well, we could’ve done this better, that better, we missed a block, we missed a throw, things of that nature.’

“So never in the first couple of drives (was I worried),” Venables said. “I didn’t feel like that.”
