ATLANTA — The season opener is officially here for South Carolina football .

The No. 13 Gamecocks kick off the 2025 season at Mercedes-Benz Stadium against Virginia Tech on Aug. 31 (3 p.m., ESPN) and coach Shane Beamer's fifth season with the Gamecocks. Beamer played for the Hokies and was an assistant for his dad Frank Beamer , who was the football coach for 29 seasons.

South Carolina went 9-4 last season. LaNorris Sellers is back for his second season as starting quarterback and will face another dual threat playmaker in Hokies quarterback Kyron Drones.

According to BetMGM , the Gamecocks are a 7.5-point favorite with a over/under of 52.5 points.
