PAYSON, Ariz. — A 20-year-old woman was shot in the head and killed during an argument in a Denny's parking lot in Payson on Saturday, according to authorities.

The Payson Police Department said officers arrested 22-year-old Donald Nash after 20-year-old Keonna Honanie was killed while the two of them sat in the back seat of a Honda Pilot SUV together.

According to police, both Honanie and Nash are from Phoenix, and the two were traveling through Payson.

A 1-year-old child was sitting next to Honanie at the time of the shooting, police said.

Police said the incident happened at around 10 a.m. in the 400 block of South Beeline Highway (SR 87).

The northbound lanes of roadway were closed for several hours following the shooting so that investigators could process the scene.
