Sarnia’s police board is officially asking city council to approve paying for a new police station.
No detailed architectural drawings have been crafted yet, but architects +VG and RPL, who’ve designed police facilities elsewhere, project $91 million for a nearly 9,300-square-metre (100,000-square-foot) facility, based on construction costs and other projects, said Sarnia police board chair Paul Wiersma.

The architects, speaking to city council in July , put the figure at around $81 million, but a recent report to the police board notes contingencies and about $3 million in design fees push the high-level estimate to more than $91 million.
