Neto Borges has left Middlesbrough to join Championship rivals Bristol City on a season-long loan.

The Brazilian had fallen down the pecking order at Boro this summer after emerging as a key player under Michael Carrick last term. As Darragh Lenihan returned to the squad on Saturday after a lengthy injury, Borges was left out of the Boro squad altogether.

Borges will spend the rest of the season on loan at Ashton Gate, though Boro will have the option to recall the defender in January should they wish. He will be ineligible to play for the Robins against Boro too.
