Officers with the Sacramento Police Department were dispatched just before 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday to investigate reports of a possible shooting in the 200 block of Bannon Street, the police department said.

Upon arrival, officers found a man with at least one gunshot wound. He was then taken to a nearby hospital, where he died, the police department said.

It was the 32nd homicide this year for the city of Sacramento, according to police. That compares to 29 homicides for the same period a year ago.
