TAG/The Artists Gallery in downtown Frederick presents two powerful solo exhibitions reflecting the artists’ shared sensitivity to the unseen forces that shape our world. “What the Sky Let Go,” by S. Manya Stoumen-Tolino, and Jan McIntyre-Creager’s “Drawn to Water” each explore how we experience, change and make an impact on our environment.
In “What the Sky Let Go,” Stoument-Tolino turns her focus skyward and inward, using layered paint, abstract gesture and expressive color to examine the emotional undercurrents of modern life in contrast with the natural world. Her work suggests the release of memory, tension, uncertainty and transformation — what falls from above and stirs within. Rooted in both representation and abstraction, the paintings invite viewers into a space of contemplation
