LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredo City Council will be discussing several topics during a meeting on Tuesday, September 2, including large drainage pipes posing a safety risk, possibly cancelling the current vacant building ordinance, and more.

City officials will discuss the safety risks associated with large sewage pipes that can be accessed by the public. This comes a few days after an undocumented immigrant was rescued from a drainage pipe near the Outlet Shoppes at Laredo.

Additionally, the city is looking to discuss, with possible action, cancelling the vacant building ordinance in its current version (Ordinance No. 2021-0-152).

The ordinance would eventually be replaced with a new one with public input from the Downtown Business Improvement District and others.
