CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Carteret County man and woman are accused by deputies of seriously injuring their infant.

Warrants show that Logan Laughinghouse, 28, and Autumn Sproule, 27, both of Newport, are charged with felony intentional child abuse inflicting serious physical injury.

Deputies say that the abuse happened on August 3 rd and that the couple “…did intentionally inflict serious physical injury, brain atrophy, metabolic instability, severe medical state secondary to malnutrition…” on the 11-month-old.

Laughinghouse was booked in Carteret County while Sproule was booked into the Pitt County jail Sunday.

Laughinghouse was given a $75,000 secured bond while Sproule was given a $50,000 secured bond.
