Re: " Letters: New mom asks Richmond council to slow down traffic ," Aug. 21, 2025 and " Letters: Re-engineer Richmond streets to make them safer ," Aug. 27, 2025
Both letters from Meaghan Kristensen and Gurinder Purewal we’re both well spoken.
However, narrowing the driving lanes, curb extensions and adding speed bumps will not help the situation.
With cars getting wider, people may want to drive closer to the oncoming traffic to avoid possibly hitting the curbs.
As for speed bumps, that would not be beneficial to the fire trucks, police and especially ambulances that need to get to their calls.
They don’t have time to slow down to go over a speed bump if they are transporting patient(s) that could be in a life or death situation.
Drivers need to say to themselves,
