HOUSTON — A 10-year-old boy who was shot while playing ding-dong-ditch Saturday night has died, Houston police told KHOU 11's Orko Manna.
The shooting happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Mimbrough Street, which is off Fidelity Street east of the East Loop.
Police said the boy, along with several friends, had gone up to a home and knocked on the door before running away. While they were running away, HPD said the homeowner came outside and opened fire, hitting the boy multiple times.
The boy was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.
Police said the homeowner was taken into custody. It's unclear what charges the homeowner may face.
