Demetrius Haley, one of the ex-Memphis Police Department officers charged with the 2023 beating of Tyré Nichols, filed a motion asking the court to reinstate his bond, which would allow his release before the pending trial.

Last Thursday , motions were granted for three former Memphis Police Department officers to receive a new trial in the case involving the death of Tyre Nichols over communications between the former judge over the case surrounding MPD.

Demetrius Haley, along with Tadarrius Bean and Justin Smith, will receive a new trial following the recusal of federal judge Mark S. Norris.

Bean, Smith, and Haley were all convicted of at least one charge during the previous trial , which stretched for nearly a month at the end of 2024.
