SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV)-- On Sunday, August 31, 2025, at approximately 12:53 a.m., State Police responded to a reported assault at Santillo’s Sausage food stand at the New York State Fair.

The investigation determined that while employees were cleaning up for the evening, a verbal altercation occurred between two workers. During the incident, the suspect, identified as Branden J. Brown, age 25, of York, PA, was in possession of a culinary knife and struck the victim in the left cheek, causing injury.

The victim was taken to Upstate Hospital for treatment.

Brown fled the scene before police arrived, but was later found and taken into custody without incident. He was charged with: • Assault in the Second Degree (Class D felony) • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (C
