A judge has temporarily halted a 21% SEPTA fare increase scheduled to start Monday and a 20% service reduction on commuter rail lines that were to follow on Tuesday.
Instead, a lawsuit filed on behalf of two SEPTA riders and an advocate to stop the fare hike and service reductions did just that, until a hearing next Thursday morning, 6ABC television reported .
The cuts and fare hike would have affected two SEPTA rail lines serving New Jersey.
A notice on SEPTA’s website said the authority will comply with the court’s order, meaning that fares and service levels will stay as they were on Friday.
The first phase of cuts to close funds to close a $213 million operating budget cap took effect on Aug. 24 with reductions to bus, subway and trolley service will stay in place, the agency
