Labor Day — the federal holiday that celebrates the achievements of American workers — is just around the corner. Always celebrated on the first Monday of September, Labor Day is known to many Americans as the unofficial end of summer, and a long weekend for beach days, barbecues and big shopping sales.

While Labor Day typically doesn't lead many stores, supermarkets or other businesses to close their doors like other major holidays, some stores will have abbreviated hours or be closed altogether this year on Sept. 1. If you don't want to throw a wrench in your cookout, shopping spree or getaway plans, check these store hours before you make the trip.
