A mum argued that delays reviewing the extra support her son needed saw him miss out on occupational therapy he was entitled to. The mum said the lack of this extra support meant her son was “dysregulated in school”, which she said affected his education.
The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman upheld the mum’s complaint against Cambridgeshire County Council , and told the authority to pay the family £700 in recognition of the missed support. The county council said it accepted the Ombudsman’s findings and had complied with the recommended actions the Ombudsman had put forward.
A report published by the Ombudsman explained that the son, referred to as Y, has special education needs and had an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan. An EHC Plan sets out a child’s needs and what ar
